BALL-ON

The colored ball that the player attempts to pot; same as on ball

BAULK

The space between the bottom cushion and the baulk line on the snooker table

BAULK LINE

The line parallel to the bottom cushion, located 29 inches away from the face of the bottom cushion

BED OF THE TABLE

The surface of the table covered with cloth within the cushions

BLACK SPOT

Where the black ball is being spotted

BOTTOM CUSHION

The cushion at the head of the table near the draw of the half circle

BREAK

The total score of one inning in the snooker game

BRIDGE

The part which holds and directs the shaft during the snooker game; see also rest

BUTT OF CUE

The wider end of the cue stick; as opposed to the cue tip
